Name: Zoe Cherrett
Job Title: Business Development Specialist
Time with SecuriCare: 14.5 years
What led you to join SecuriCare?
Prior to my role with SecuriCare I had extensive customer services experience. I worked for Marks and Spencer at their head office in London for 23 years, but was in need of a more local job so I could spend more time with my two small sons. With SecuriCare, not only was it local, but it also provided the interaction with people that I so enjoy, so it ticked all the boxes.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the varied day. Each call is very different, and you really never know what the day will bring. Sometimes I’m speaking to someone that has had their stoma for many years, and others are brand new to it. We now deal a lot more with people needing continence products so that adds to the variance in the day, and of course we speak to nurses when they call in too. I feel very privileged that people will share their stories and experiences with us and that we are able to offer them advice and potential solutions for any issues they may be having with their stoma or continence needs.
What’s a typical working day like for you?
No day is ever the same. I could spend 30 minutes or more on one single call, if needed to give that person the best advice. Other calls could be very brief and quick with someone knowing exactly what they need. It also depends on what information is in the various journals that people receive, telling them about our products and services. The varied work certainly makes the time speed by every day.
What do you get up to in your spare time?
I live with my husband and our two teenage sons, so family life is often very busy with the comings and goings of our boys and their friends, but as they’re older now we’re able to find time for ourselves. I love long walks when the weather allows, via a pub, before heading home to cook a family meal. I also love spending time with my friends, going to the cinema, and having people over to dinner as I love cooking.
