Tell us about your background
I was a Crown Court Clerk at Leicester Crown Court for 35 years before I decided to take early retirement. After 6 months off, I realised I was missing the mental stimulation that employment had provided. With that in mind I decided to seek part time work, but in an environment that would provide different challenges - completely unrelated to law.
How have you found your time at SecuriCare so far?
I was fortunate to be successful in my application to work for SecuriCare and officially joined the team in February 2018. I received a warm welcome and a highly informative induction. Although my duties are administrative, I’ve been provided with the knowledge and first- hand experience of the duties and responsibilities of my stoma and colorectal nursing colleagues which enables me to fully understand where my role fits in. All team members respect and support each other, and I feel valued by SecuriCare. I’ve been given the tools and training to learn new computer systems and a variety of administrative duties with the opportunity of developing those skills in the future.
What do you get up to in your spare time?
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family, particularly my 1 year old granddaughter who keeps me thoroughly occupied! I enjoy sport and have an avid interest in dogs and look forward to my annual visit to Crufts.
